The Two Brewers
80 Springfield Road, Chelmsford, CM2 6JY (01245 268801) The Two Brewers is a really delightful little pub with bare brick walls, exposed oak beams and a lively buzz. As well as a good range of drinks, the food menu comprises delights such as hog and hop sausages, steak and Directors ale pie, tender lamb shanks and a very filling all day big breakfast. On Sundays the pub is always packed with customers drawn in by the £6.50 traditional Sunday roast on offer.

The Marsham Arms
107 Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford, CM1 2RY (01245 350345)
Thanks to a recent refurbishment The Marsham Arms is, although nothing to speak of from the outside, a very smart and inviting place to enjoy a pint or two or a good lunch. This is also a great place if you like entertainment, as there’s both darts and pool on offer and regular quiz nights.

O’Connor’s
7 Hall Street, Chelmsford, CM2 0HG (01245 600037)
O’Connor’s is a busy pub with many of its customers attracted by the food available here. From the menu you can choose from the likes of a tasty O’Connor’s ultimate burger served with mushrooms, bacon and Swiss cheese, or a decadent fillet of poached salmon in a champagne and dill sauce. Alternatively they have plenty of simple but delicious sandwich options too.

The Railway Tavern
63 Duke’s Street, Chelmsford, CM1 1HT (01245 356995)
The brightly red painted Railway Tavern is conveniently situated as you might guess within easy reach of the local railway station, a fact that certainly helps its popularity. Inside you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere whilst out the back there’s an inviting beer garden that’s ideal for summer drinking. On the menu you find simple choices such as soups, sandwiches and jacket potatoes to satisfy your appetite.

The Woolpack
Mildmay Road, Chelmsford, CM2 ODN (01245 259295)
The Woolpack occupies a large corner spot along the Mildmay Road where landlord Peter Read resides. The friendly pub serves food at lunchtime only, but the varied menu includes dishes such as classic omelettes, burgers, baguettes and jacket potatoes, as well as more substantial steaks and the famous Woolies kebab. What’s more every Wednesday night from 8.30pm there’s a popular music quiz night.
